Buyer Rules and Safety Guide

Practical checks IndianDeals buyers should complete before meeting, inspecting, paying for or accepting a gadget.

01

F1. Before Meeting or Paying

  • Compare price with the normal market range. Extremely low prices are a major fraud warning.
  • Ask for clear current photos or a live video of the actual item.
  • Verify seller name and general location; be cautious when account/payment names differ.
  • Do not send a token or advance merely to reserve an item.
  • Never share OTP, UPI PIN, card PIN, CVV, password, screen-sharing access or remote-control permission.
  • Do not click unknown payment/refund links or scan a QR code to “receive” money.
02

F2. Inspect the Gadget

  • Meet in a well-lit public place and, where possible, take another person.
  • Check IMEI/serial number on the device, settings, box and invoice for consistency.
  • Check activation locks, account logout, MDM/enterprise restrictions, BIOS password, carrier lock and blacklisting.
  • Test display, touch, keyboard, ports, cameras, microphone, speakers, network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, charging, battery and biometric functions.
  • Inspect for liquid damage, repair marks, replaced parts, physical damage and tampering.
  • For expensive transactions, consider an independent technician chosen by you; IndianDeals does not arrange or guarantee inspection.
03

F3. Payment and Handover

  • Pay only after inspection unless you independently accept the risk.
  • Confirm the payee name and amount before approving UPI or bank payment.
  • Obtain a signed receipt recording seller/buyer names, item, IMEI/serial number, price, date, condition and any warranty/return agreement.
  • Ensure the seller removes personal accounts and activation locks and resets the device correctly.
  • Immediately report suspected stolen goods or fraud to the appropriate police/cybercrime authority and notify IndianDeals with the report reference.
